Participation

Making music wakes up our imagination and enriches our lives with empathy for one another and for the world we live in. In my diverse experience of participatory music-making I've seen babies sparkling with rhythm as they make sense of this world for the first time; school children coming together under their own creative vision; and older adults shedding new light on our society in their performances. By making music in accessible and supportive ways, we can all experience these magical musical moments. You can read more about my work below.

In the Early Years

Beginning my early years music work as an assistant at The Conservatoire in Blackheath, I was fortunate to be able to learn from an expert team and have the opportunity to share in music-making with them and the children. As my skills developed, my enjoyment of the work grew and I now take my own classes as tutor. I feel honoured to play a part in children’s first experiences of making music and I recognise the great responsibility that I carry in that capacity.

I'm grateful for the opportunity to have developed my practice with Sound Connections as a London Early Years Music Network Apprentice.

For Young People

Practical experience and training schemes have given me a broad range of skills in running music workshops for young people.

In 2019 I was chosen to be a recipient of the Trinity Laban Innovation Award for my work to give young musicians in youth orchestras the opportunity to see and create participatory music in their community.

For Adults

My involvement with Trinity Laban's Inspired not Tired music programme for the over 60s led to a placement with The Befrienders under the guidance of Natasha Lohan.

Intergenerational

Having worked on music projects bringing older and younger generations together, I've seen diverse communities coming together through shared creative experience.

Record of Continued Professional Development

I am continually developing my practice of participatory music-making on training courses. You can see what I've been up to below.
